What do we use the money for?

Much of our work is voluntary and unpaid. While financial gain is not a motivating factor for us, it is necessary to have a small staff on modest salaries in order to be effective. Our Head of Organisation is the only full-time member of staff. We have two part-time employees, who both work 10-14 hours each. One carries out administration with respect to our membership, and the other is a law student who coordinates our advisors. Our advisors are unpaid, and we pay a symbolic rent for our small office.

Our funds go a long way – every year we are in contact with several hundred refugees, and we publish many articles, opinion pieces, consultation responses, reports, etc. Your support goes directly to our aims, namely advice work, providing information and advocacy.

From 2016 to 2024, Refugees Welcome provided direct support for the purchase of aeroplane tickets. We gave a subsidy of 1,000 kr. per child when a refugee living here had been granted permission for family reunification but was unable to pay for the trip themselves, due to the low amount of integration benefit (integrationsydelse). We managed to help several hundred families before we ran out of money and had to close the scheme. However, a generous bequest has now enabled us to reopen the scheme – and this time we are offering to pay the full ticket price for both adults and children. Read more about flight tickets.

Membership and payment

You can sign up to be a member by using the membership form on this website. As a supporting member, you choose a fixed monthly amount, which is drawn automatically by payment service (Betalingsservice). If you only wish to be a regular member, the annual membership fee of 200 kr. is only paid once a year.

We are approved by the Danish Tax Authorities (SKAT) under section 8A of the Danish Tax Assessment Act. Any contribution to Refugees Welcome above the annual membership fee of 200 kr. is tax-deductible (up to 19,000 DKK per year (2025), giving you a tax deduction of approximately 30% of the amount. If we have your CPR number, this happens automatically as we report everything to SKAT so that your contribution is automatically included in your tax return. So, if you have not already entered your CPR number in our form, you can send it to us in a sealed envelope or call us and give it to us verbally. Remember to include your name and membership number as well.

Payments made to MobilePay 33942 can only be registered for a tax deduction if you send your membership number or your CPR number. We are of course also happy to receive contributions from non-members!

Leave money to us in your will and save on inheritance tax!

We have entered into a partnership with the company Dokument 24, so you can have a will drawn up free of charge if you choose to include us in it. We are grateful for both small as well as large donations. It is also possible to
