Would you like to book an exciting and informative presentation about refugees?
Michala Clante Bendixen has extensive experience in giving talks and lectures about refugees. She explains the Danish asylum system in an understandable way that requires no legal expertise, and she has a firm grasp of all the relevant statistics. We can guarantee that you will learn a lot! Michala’s commitment also shines through, especially when she vividly recounts some of the many personal stories she has been involved in over the years.
Michala holds a unique position within Denmark’s refugee sector, navigating freely between researchers, lawyers, practitioners, volunteers, activists—and not least, refugees themselves. Michala received the Human Rights Award in 2014 and has been nominated for Dane of the Year by the newspaper Berlingske; she is simply the driving force behind Refugees Welcome. In addition to her work for the organisation, Michala is the Danish country coordinator for the European Commission's Migrant Integration Hub website.
“Michala's lectures provide a clear and in-depth understanding of the legal and social discrimination refugees face in Denmark. It can be extremely difficult for a layperson to understand this system.”
– Philippa Lund, psychologist
“Michala is a leading expert in the Danish asylum system and a committed advocate for asylum seekers. Her detailed, clear and illustrative presentations have given countless DIS students invaluable insight into the ever-changing landscape of asylum policy and the people who navigate the system.”
– Campbell Munro, British immigration lawyer and lecturer at DIS in Copenhagen
Michala’s presentations can be tailored to a particular target audience, you are welcome to ask questions at any time, and they can be in English or Danish. Content can be more general or focused on specific areas, such as, unaccompanied minors, family reunification, integration, female refugees, young people, or how Danish policy now focuses on temporary protection rather than long-term integration (the ‘paradigm shift’)….
