Nisrin and family, Syria

Nisrin asked us for help to pay the plane tickets for her husband and 3 children. She had just received permission for family reunification for them after almost 3 years of waiting, so it was urgent.

However, it turned out to be a difficult task, since the family was in Beirut, and the city was bombed daily by Israel in March 2026. Nisrin was beside herself with fear for the children's safety. Every time we booked plane tickets, the flight was canceled shortly after, and we had to start over many times.

Finally, another Syrian living here told us that you could come via Cyprus with an evening flight from a special company. And it worked! After 2 weeks of daily efforts on the case, the father and children landed at Kastrup Airport.

Nisrin was deeply grateful for our help. She had no idea how she would have gotten the money with her modest income from a part-time job at a fish factory. 

She and her family are Kurds from Afrin, which is still a very dangerous area for them. She came to Denmark alone because it was impossible to take the whole family with the smugglers. But she was granted asylum under §7.3 and therefore had to wait 2 years before she could apply to have her family here. The youngest was only 2 years old when Nisrin had to flee.

We have changed the name for security reasons.
